Slogans should conjure positive images and distinguish the value your company or product provides. The best way to analyze slogans is to look at a few. Spend A Night At Paris

Posted on June 23, 2010 by Myron •  Comments (8)  •

When darkness falls the City of Light gives credential to its name. The monuments and bridges are illuminated, and the glow of old-fashioned and modern street lamps, the blaze of sidewalk-cafe windows, and the glare of neon signs flood the avenues and boulevards. Parisians start the serious part of their evenings as in other European people stretch, yawn, and announce it s time for bed. Once the workday is over, most people go to a cafe to meet with friends over a drink and perhaps a meal. Later they may go home or even proceed to a restaurant or the theater; and much later, they may show up at a bar or a dance club. Parisians shows one the many facets of nightlife; where to go for a quiet drink and a t te t te, and where to go to party. Whether one wants to watch a play or film, see a concert, or dance until the early Metro. Paris is the place to be in and the best place to spend an evening. Pigalle is the seedy sex centre of Paris but home to some good music venues and the Moulin Rouge cabaret, where...

Traditions Of The United States Coast Guard Part I

Posted on January 24, 2010 by Charlotte •  Comments (2)  •

The Coast Guard Standard The origins of the Coast Guard standard are very obscure. It may have evolved from an early jack. At least one contemporary painting supports this theory. In this 1840 painting pictured above, the Revenue cutter Alexander Hamilton flies a flag very similar to today s Coast Guard standard as a jack. This flag, like the union jack, which is the upper corner of the United States flag, appears to be the canton or upper corner of the Revenue cutter ensign. An illustration in 1917 shows the Coast Guard standard as a white flag with a blue eagle and 13 stars in a semi-circle surrounding it. At a later date, the words, United States Coast Guard-- Semper Paratus were added. After 1950, the semi-circle of stars was changed to the circle containing 13 stars. The Coast Guard standard is used during parades and ceremonies and is adorned by our 34 battle streamers. We are unique to the other services for we have two official flags, the Coast Guard standard and the Coast Guard ensign. The...
